This traverse crosses Mount Kenya from north to west, offering gentle ascent profiles followed by a direct descent. Generally, trekkers will walk 5 to 7 hours per day across rainforests, moorlands, and steep scree.

Day 01 :

Nairobi to Sirimon Gate (2,650m) to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

First, your journey starts with an early morning drive from Nairobi to Sirimon Gate for registration. Afterwards, we begin trekking through lush forest and giant heather zones to reach Old Moses Camp by late afternoon. Consequently, this easy walk introduces you to the mountain elevation gently.

Day 02 :

Old Moses Camp to Shipton’s Camp (4,200m)

Today, you hike across the vast Mackinder Valley, crossing mountain streams with views of the central peaks ahead. Additionally, you will see unique alpine vegetation like giant lobelias along the trail. Finally, we arrive at Shipton’s Camp in time for dinner and evening rest.

Day 03 :

Acclimatization Day at Shipton’s / Mackinder's Traverse (4,200m)

First, we spend the day exploring surrounding high-altitude tarns and ridges around Kami Hut to aid acclimatization. Furthermore, we trek around the main peaks to Mackinder's Camp on the Naro Moru side. Therefore, your body adjusts comfortably before tonight's midnight summit climb.

Day 04 :

Summit Day: Mackinder’s to Point Lenana (4,985m) to Met Station (3,050m)

Your summit attempt begins around 3:00 AM under a starry sky. First, you ascend steep scree slopes to reach Point Lenana (4,985m) in time for a spectacular sunrise over East Africa. Afterwards, you descend along the Naro Moru route to Mackinder's Camp for breakfast before continuing down to Met Station Camp for your final night.

Day 05 :

Met Station to Naro Moru Gate (2,400m) to Nairobi

On your final day, you enjoy a pleasant morning hike down through the bamboo forest to Naro Moru Gate. Eventually, you sign out of Mount Kenya National Park and collect your official summit certificates. Finally, our driver transfers you back to Nairobi, concluding your journey by late afternoon.
